What Causes Pain In Needle Insertion Site After Blood Donation?

Hi, About a week ago i donated blood, but they had to take the needle out early because there was not enough blood flow. Before taking it out the nurse moved the needle around alot in my arm and i felt alot of pain. Now i am having alot of pain when i lift anything with the arm that i took blood with and it seems to be getting worse daily.

Dear patient
Blood donation is a good. Needle used for blood donation is of large gauge and hence chances of extravasation is there when removing it. Also large movement as you said occurred during removal of needle leads to inner wall damage and phlebitis I. E. Inflammation of vein. Both leads to pain and swelling at blood donation site. You should apply thrombophobe ointment at painful site which will lead to reduction of swelling and inflammation. Apply also ice packs frequently. Take tab. Diclofenac plus serratiopeptodase combination twice a day for 5 days. All this measures will lead to relief of symptoms. All the best.
