I am having pain the right side of my nostril It feels like an exposed nerve. Has been to the dentist . Not my teeth. Thinks it may be sinus problems. I awake with runny nose . Has been using nasal spray and taking sudafed. Should I take something like zertec. This has been going on since beginning of November
Hi, Sinusitis can a be cause of pain but not specifically in the nostril but in the region in or around nose. A CT scan PNS will put light on the insides of sinuses and if sinusitis is there which can be cause of pain, an endoscopic sinus surgery should help. If CT scan is normal, local causes like inflammation or neural causes like trigeminal neuralgia should be considered. The inflammation can be treated with anitbiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. Local application of lubricant antiseptic ointments also help. Regards
