Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i have a aching in the top of my right shoulder were it joins to my neck. i can feel it when sitting normally but it becomes uncomfortable when i take a deep breath in. i am a smoker of about 10-15 a day, i drink every other weekend and i am 18 years old and female.
As the symptoms, you described guides me towards the condition called as Trapezitis. Due to inflammation of the Trapezius, there will pain anywhere between the tip of the shoulder to the neck and upper back region.
I will advise you to get help from a Physiotherapist who can help you assist with therapeutic ultrasound therapy to reduce inflammation and TENS therapy to reduce pain. Also, IASTM, myofascial release, gentle kneading massage, hot water fermentation will help further.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Jay Indravadan Patel, Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist
