What Causes Pain In The Achilles Tendon When Diagnosed With Sciatica?

i am a 50 year old woman diagnosed last week with acute right and left sided sciatica with low back pain. I have been using heat and ice to relieve some pain but I noticed that laying flat on my back makes my feet and hands tingle and feel almost numb. Also for the past 2 or so weeks I am having horrible sharp pain in my left achilles tendon. It will only last for a few moments but feels like a knife sawing into me. Is this just part of wonderful world of sciatica or something else?
