I have developed an intermittent low grade pain in the left occipital area midway between left ear and middle of scalp. It lasts less than a minute, but seems to be occurring more frequently, sometimes several times a day. I do have occasional visual headaches that are painless and cause some visual disturbances. I have had those for years. This is new. About a month. There are no other symptoms associated with this pain. It is in the same spot and I can put my finger directly on it.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Read and understood your history. This is called a pointed pain and can occur due to the following reasons: Nerve entrapment due to neck muscle spasm or whatever reason. Or due to a tumor inside Or Local scalp problem like a painful lump or so like a neurofibroma and so on.
I would advise you the following in such a situation: Get a clinical evaluation by asking for a good clinical examination. CT scan of the brain and MRI if the neck if required. Treatment according to the cause .
You can use rubrafacient liniments.
