Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I m a 66 year old male. I recently have a sharp pain in the middle of my chest bone, only seem to get it during eating or afterwards. It s extremely pain full but does pass, I take a couple of spoonfuls of gaviscon and it goes away until next time I eat. I ve also just finished a course of steroids which have given me this sort of pain before. Do you think it s anything to worry about?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Based on your history, it seems that you could have developed acute gastritis which could have been induced by intake of steroids. Kindly take Tablet. Rabiprazole once a day in the morning on empty stomach for 10 days. Avoid intake of spicy and oily foods, which could cause irritation of gastric mucosa. Gradually, your symptoms should subside and you should be back to normal. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
