What Causes Pain In The Ear During Swallowing After Getting Hit In The Ear?
My 5 year old fell off the swing set last night, hitting chin and side of head (ear area). She immediately complained of pain in her ear. It mostly went away after a short time. Now, the next morning, she says it stills hurts when she swallows. What could the problem be?
Hello, If there was no loss of conciousness and vomiting then no need to worry for the head injury point . but need to monitor first 24 hours for any decrease in activity. For the chin trauma there could be injury to the bone , you could see if the mouth opening is good enough then do not worry , as nothing would have happened because in children the bones are soft and do not break easily. There could be pain while chewing because of the trauma . You can give a anti inflammatory medicine for that. But it will better if you get an ENT consultation for it, as there is nothing better than examining and then giving the advice. In doubt do reply.
