What Causes Pain In The Knee While Bending?

Hi, my knee is paining after bending it. The pain starts after a while when its in a bended situation and increases when i try to stretch it ( it s a horrible pain it even wakes me up from my sleep). I have this problem since several years but to be honest I never went to see the doctor, because it disappears after a while (few weeks or days sometimes).
