What Causes Pain In The Middle To Lower Part Of The Chest?

I am having niggley pains in the middle to lower part of my chest for the last few hours. Comes and goes and have had this before off and on over the last two weeks but it's always gone away. Only taking pain medication for joints. I am 71 years if age. YYYY@YYYY

Hi,
Since the pain is over your chest and as your age is considered it is better to do a detailed evaluation to rule out any cardiac cause for the pain.
Consult a general physician and get an ECG done to rule out CAD(coronary artery disease).You might also need a treadmill test (TMT) depending on the initial evaluation.
If the pain is not due to cardiac cause it might be due gastritis related problems.
Avoid spicy food.
Quit smoking and take a check on your alcohol consumption.
Antacids like ranitidine and PPI (proton pump inhibitor) might help.
