What Causes Pain, Odor And Muffled Hearing In Ear?

Hi I haven t been well for almost a month, have been feeling very low and exhausted for the past two weeks i have been suffering with vertigo, headaches and feeling sick. I also have muffled hearing in my right ear and pain in that ear. The gp has checked it and said there are no signs of infection. This week I have also started getting pins and needles everyday and smelling burnt toast during the early hours of the morning what does this mean.

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have pain, odor and muffled hearing in ear which occur due to many reasons like ear canal dermatitis , which is a kind of allergic reaction or otitis media ( ear infection ) . But it seems to me that in your case the symptoms are due to allergic reaction . I would suggest you to take ear antibiotics oral as well as ear drops, painkiller like Ibuprofen, decongestant nasal sprays and pus drainage from the ear can help in faster clearing of infection. Consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may examine ear with otoscope , order certain test like allergy test , CT scan and blood tests to rule out ear infection . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics , corticosteroid ear drops and anti inflammatory .
