I have pain on outside of thigh when getting up from a chair or bed and when climbing up stairs. This has been going on for about three weeks. Prior to then, I had been walking every morning, and I had been climbing a lot of stairs. Now I have discontinued the AM walking and i am in a one story house. My question is: will this go away on its wown now that I have slowed down. As long as i am standing and doing regular activities, I feel no pain.

Hello, Thanks for your query. The fact that your pain is occuring with movements indicates a muscle strain. Any strained muscle when stretched gives severe pain.
I advice you to follow the below mentioned guidelines -
* Give adequate rest to the involved muscle group and avoid any movement that causes pain * Ice packing once in every 2 hours over the affected area * Moist heat application to relax the muscles * Local application of muscle relaxant gel * Analgesic medications as needed
