General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Pain in Butt before/ during periods is due to cramps, swelling of the uterus or bloating. Most of the times the pain is felt in the abdomen but if the uterus is tilted towards back the pain is radiated to butts.
The problem mostly managed with having fibre-rich diet & drinking more water. Massage with muscle relaxants, fomentation, bath or over the counter pain pills.
In case of no relief. You need specific medication & probably USg testing to exclude conditions like Endometriosis followed by suitable treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
