What Causes Pain On The Right Scapula?

I am 55.Started having right scapula pain about 10 months ago.Went to Dr.He said that my lungs sound fine.I asked to have x-rays.They came out fine.Few wks.later, went to hosp. & was given more x-rays,blood work, urine work and density bone scan. The only thing Dr.said was that It looks like you have an old compression fracture in your t-5.You need to take 1200mg.of calcium a day. Got call few days later from my Dr. He said your bone scan came out fine. I am still having problems with my right side.Meanwhile, about that same time, I noticed that I couldn t raise my other arm (left) very high.It s like this all happened at the same time.I don t know what happened.I did work at a fast food restaurant where I was at the window every day and handed back their change.I have gotten myself scared.I have been to 2 different chiropractors. One of them said that he didn t see any old fractures of my t-5.He says it s from my poor posture. I have been doing all of these exercises and finally last week, got a theraputic massage.I now have a new job and of course, no insurance.Should I still see chiropractor?Sometimes, I feel pain in my right ribs.My gall bladder was taken out years ago. Are my ligaments loose? Is it muscular pain?Did I injure a or more than one muscle? What s going on with my left side, why I can t raise my arm very far up and out to the side. When I do stretch it out, the pain is on the ball of my shoulder at the top. The pain in my right scapula is almost gone.Thank goodness. Is this just a real long recovery? I started wearing a back brace, which is really helping with the side pain. I had a hysterectomy in 2008. This is when I noticed my body going down hill.(if you know what I mean) Do you think I will ever be ok again?

Hello,

You have history of old compression fracture in your T-5. You also have pain in your right ribs, you had cholecystectomy done many years back. You are unable to raise your left arm comfortably. Left arm pain may be indicative of heart condition, developing CAD. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a cardiologist, get all required tests and investigations done. You will be treated accordingly.

Scapula pain commonly occurs due to straining of a muscle which can lead to muscle spasms. This is caused by repetitive motion, improper posture, damage to the muscle, injury to the rotator cuff, etc. The pain may be caused by myositis, a muscle tumor, or a tear in the muscle. Scapula pain also occurs due to “frozen shoulder”. Pain radiates around the shoulder blades also due to damaged tendons linking biceps to the scapula.

Damage to any of the connecting tissue that forms our muscles, tendons, and joints can result in scapula pain. You are suggested to get connected to a Physical therapist, do exercises, stretch exercises under him, so that you can do it in a more correct and precise way. Yes, you will get fine very soon. Maintain heathy eating habits, do walking and exercises. Avoid sedentary habits, maintain heathy weight. stay away from addictions if any.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
