The roof of my mouth is extremely painful to the point at which I literally cannot eat! Drinking is fine but anything denser than fluid hurts and not just mild pain... ridiculous pain I was at the family dentists last week (he is literally my uncle) and all was ok in regard to oral health... it’s private and he checks properly What could it be it the roof at the back (not the solid ridged bit behind my top front teeth) the part where it begins to turn soft and smooth all the was tothd back if my throat... help hungry and worried
It looks like you have pain in the soft palate. It can be due to infection and inflammation of the soft palate. It can be due to a throat infection, post nasal drip, upper respiratory infection, burning with hot foods, chemicals, allergy etcetera. So my suggestion is to consult an ENT physician and get evaluated and an oral and throat swab culture can be done for confirmation.
In case if it is due to infection then a course of antibiotics like azithromycin and anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen can be advised. Along with it suck Cepacol lozenges and do warm saline gargles. Chew a vitamin C pellet daily. Avoid spicy foods and drink plenty of warm water.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
