What Causes Pain Under Bellybutton And Vaginal Opening?

It can happen before, during, and after my period. It s always very sharp, but not always in the same spot. Sometimes it starts a little under my bellybutton then radiates down a couple of inches. Other times it ll just be in one spot, like either around my left or right ovary or right in the center. The most unusual pain is when it starts around my urethral/vaginal opening (everything is so close down there, it s hard to tell where it s starting from exactly) and radiates upwards. I had an external ultrasound a couple months ago and everything looked normal. I ve heard that external ultrasounds can miss things. Is it possible that this pain is being caused by some sort of problem missed by the ultrasound, not just normal cramps?

Hello there, thanks for writing in. It looks more like normal uterine cramping to me or intestinal cramp related to progesterone action ( bloating) in the body. Menstrual cramps are quite common during periods and also just before periods. If your cramps are noticed regularly around mid month or sometime in the last two weeks if menstrual cycle, probably they are related to ovulation and or along with intestinal cramps. And the fact that your ultrasound is normal is reassuring too. So I say, in all probability, you have nothing to worry unless your cramps seem to increase to cause pain which I don't think is likely.
Hope this is helpful information for you. Good luck!
