Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain While Removing The Stitch After Anal Fissure Correction Procedure?
I had a procedure to correct an anal fissure on Friday and the discharge information package has an instruction that says Remove gelfoam bandage from rectum in sitz bath . I see a very small string inside my rectum but pulling on it hurts a lot and Im worried about damaging myself by forcing it. What should I do?
I read your query carefully: No, there is no harm in removing the bandage. It will not damage you. In mostly cases bandage is removed itself during sitz bath but sometimes you have to remove it. No doubt removing bandage hurts you a little but it does not damage. So, you should not worry about that. Infact removing bandage will lessen your pain and pressure symptoms in that area. If you are afraid of removing yourself then visit your doctor or nurse to do it for you.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. Wishing you good health.
