What Causes Painful Boil On The Left-side Of The Buttocks?

I have a boil on my ass that is close to the crack on the left side. A year ago my doctor looked at the boil and prescribed an ointment to ease the pain and make the boil go away. After a month or so the core of the biol receded but never completely went away. The boil is back, is extremely painful but has never broken the covering skin. I suspect the core of the boil needs surgery. My doctor, I have reason to believe will just prescribe more ointment . What do you think should be done to relieve my painful and very embarassing condition.???

Hi,
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concern.
As per your clinical history you have developed an abscess in your buttock are.You don't need to worry regarding this because it can be treated effectively.
As you have recurrence it is better to do an "incision and drainage procedure" to clear the pus and debris of the area.A general practitioner can easily do it.You have to take a short ccourse of antibiotics to tackle the infection.I suggest amoxclav 625 mg ttwice a day for five days.If you have you can use simple analgesics like ibuprufen or aspirin.Warm compresses over that also provide symptomatic relief.
Check your blood sugar level to rule out diabetes.
Hope this information helps.

With regards.
