Hi there!

Thanks for your question in HCM!

The symptoms you have been noticing, are mostly related to Diverticulitis itself. Generally, this condition persisits because of a low fiber diet and insufficient intake of water. For acute attack, you can take an over-the-counter painkiller, such as Tylenol. But its most advisable to go visit a doctor, who may ask you to undergo some tests like a complete blood count, and possibly an Ultrasound/ MRI.

You must be ready to make some changes to your diet, and your lifestyle in general, by leading a more active one. Initially, a bland diet would be fine, and then gradually a tailored approach by introducing high fiber foods like wholewheat and fruits and vegetables, would be added. Some medications like painkillers and probably even antibiotics, would take care of most cases of diverticulitis. Surgery, if needed, is the last approach.

Hope this helps!
