What Causes Painful Breathing And Pain In Rib Area?

I slipped on ice on wednesday. Feet flew out from under me and I landed on my back like a splat! Since then I have had severe pain in my rib area below and to the right of my breast. It also hurts to touch the area. The pain is very sharp when breathing, trying to get out of a chair, and to the touch and also if I cough or sneeze. I was x-rayed at local Stat Care but fractures did not show up. Could I possibly have rib fracture anyway?
