I have headaches that leave knots and areas feeling bruised on my head after the headaches and recently I have been getting the bruised feeling spots on my head without the headaches.Today I woke up with my temple feeling bruised and very painful. What could this be coming from?
Judging from your description I believe the most likely cause to be a tension-type headache. It is the most common type of primary headache (primary meaning for without an identifiable cause).
It is commonly associated with increased scalp tenderness (the bruised feeling).
Usually, over the counter, anti-inflammatory medication like Advil relieves the symptoms. Relaxation exercises also help as stress often triggers or exacerbates symptoms.
If they are a very frequent preventive medication with amitriptyline may be considered.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
