What Causes Painful Bump On Buttocks?

I was wondering what this could be characterized as, I have a bump in my perineal, it doesnt itch or burn, but hurts when applie pressure, when i first noticed it I left it alone out of fear, today I was going to bed and i felt something wet on my boxers and the bump had ruptured due to me clenching my buttocks, this rupture produced dark red colored blood and the bump had drained alot but it still did nt change in size much, i cleaned it with a towel amd alcohol and put a mini bandage over the rupture area and I was wondering if you could explain to me what this is, thank you for your feedback

Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

I think this was most likely a bacterial skin and soft tissue infection i.e a furuncle.
Even though it has drained I would still suggest you to take an Oral antibiotic for a week. My choice of Oral antibiotic would be either cloxacillin Or cephalexin for a week.
You might have not noticed any immediate change in size because the space created by pent up infected material is now occupied by blood, therefore no immediate size change.
The size would gradually reduce as the blood would get organized.
Since, perineal region normally is resident to a lot of bacterial flora, therefore it is important to prevent secondary bacterial infection of this space over the next few days by a course of an Oral antibiotic, till the skin gets sealed up.
Topically you may use an OTC topical antibacterial e.g 2% mupitocin ointment, twice daily for a week.

Regards
