What Causes Painful Bumps On The Foot?

my sister hurt her foot at about lunch time and she has walked around on it all day and when she has come home she has got my mum to take her to get it x-rayed and i think she is over reacting because there is only a scrach and a little tiny bumb on her foot that is the same as the other foot. what could she have done ?
