What Causes Painful Bumps Under The Arms And The Groin Area?

My wife is 60, in great shape & healthy. She has been suffering periodically with painful bumps under her arms and groin area. They are nasty looking red but never ooze even-though they look as if they could. They are hard to the touch. She s been to the OBGYN & GP without luck.I heard something on the radio the other day (public service announcement type of ad) it listed the exact systems she has and it started with an H S ..... She s getting frustrated with the ongoing pain when they appear. What are they?
