What Causes Painful Burning Sensation After Urination?

Hi I am a 25 yr old female, I woke up this morning with an urgency to urinate and when I did I felt a painful burning sensation right after and noticed I was bleeding. It has been a week since my last menstral. What could this be? Is it possibly an STD or UTI?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It seems to be an acute urinary tract infection.

Glomerulonephritis, pyelonephritits, cystitis etc can be a possibility

Your first investigation is to be urine routine microscopic examination

If urine shows pus cells and bacteria then culture done to choose specific antibiotic. According to that;

Avoid excess spicy foods

Drink more water

Drink fruits juice more

Cranberry juice extract tablet are also useful

Hope this will help you
