What Causes Painful Foot Post Injury With Normal X-ray?

I went to the Emergency Dept 2 wknds ago. I had a lump on my foot. Silly home accident.. Xray stated no broken bones although it felt like a small broken bone sticking up. So, Doctor said it was a hematoma. I took a break for 2 wks from working out. I tried it yesterday. I felt pain in the same area and from the outside of my foot everything look really red yet I didn t bump my foot, again. A knot formed.

Dear Friend,
Thanks for sharing your question. If it is red or blue from out side then it is hematoma and it may take some more time to resolve. However if it takes more time to heal it is advisable to get a MRI done to rule out coexistent ligament or tendon injury.
