, i am Jennifer. I am 20years of age. I need some advice on wether i should consult a doc or not. Last year (2016) i had .y appendix removed, and i had my cycle for 2weeks straight after that, then a month later my other cycle. Ten in dec my last cycle. And i have not had it since 24dec till now. I have my period pains and so on, well i have had them for the past 2-3weeks and i have the pre-period smell. Buy thats all. It is so sore, and uncomfortable. It makes me so sleepy and feels like i am tired all the time. Please i need advice on why and what it is.
Hi Ms. Jennifer, Thanks for posting your query. After any stress, there is often menstrual disturbance and this is the most likely cause for the prolonged period you had after the surgery. If you are sexually active without any protection, it is likely that you may have conceived. Your symptoms can be due to premenstrual phase or a very early pregnancy. I would ask you to get an estimation of the serum beta-hCG titres to confirm/exclude pregnancy followed by a sonogram of the pelvis to clarify the situation and plan further management. If you are not sexually active, hormone imbalance should be suspected and accordingly tested. Hope this helps.
