What Causes Painful Numbness And Muscle Spasms In The Hands Post Scoliosis Surgery?

I had scoliosis surgery 4 years ago and it wasn t until last year that I started to struggle with the pain. I was going through a very stressful time and I assumed that was causing it. I started to have muscle spasms and cramps and numbness in my hands while writing. I ve been to my GP numerous times about this and neither her or specialists can find anything wrong with them. A few weeks ago I started being really clumsy and dizzy, which is not like me at all. I read an article earlier about fibromyalgia and I was just wondering if this could be the case and how I can ease the pain.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

After a scoliosis surgery there can be mild nerve root irritation due to local swelling that can cause these symptoms. Taking anti-inflammatory medicines and Methylcobalamin supplements will help.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Praveen Tayal,
