What Causes Painful Penile Irritation After Using Ketoconazole?
Hi. I have been using ketocnazole (an antidandruff) for about two weeks after consulting the side eff ects with the pharmacist. But now I am experiancing a penile irritation which is so painful and it has small bruises all over the the penis. I have discontinued the drug two weeks ago but the side effects are getting worse and worse everyday. Please help!
Ketoconazole ointment contains medicines / ingredients in a low concentration so chances of skin irritation due to it shouldn't be there. Do not use it as it is causing you irritation and discomfort in the penile area. Painful penile irritation can be due to friction. Friction during sex, self-pleasuring or rubbing against the fabric you are wearing.
Avoid any type of sexual activity for a couple of days. Wear loose fitting soft cotton clothes. Take care of your hygiene. You can apply ointment Neosporin or Soframycin on the affected area. Avoid using perfumed soaps, spermicides, chemical body or beauty products. Use herbal products.
Avoid using condoms, the latex can cause allergy and irritation. Get STD tests done as you have small bruise all over the penis. If tests are positive you will be treated with antibiotics / antivirals and antiviral ointment for topical use.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
