What Causes Painful Rashes On The Back After Taking Dextromethorphan Polistirex?

i am recovering from the flu and took one dose, 10mL, of the equate brand of Cough DM, Dextromethorphan Polistirex. That was 24 hours ago, and I have had a very painful rash on by back all day. I also had to take anti-diarreal medicine, two doses yesterday. I am feeling better except for the rash on my back. What can I put on my back to relieve the pain?

Hello welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advise

Painful rashes can sometimes be due to presence of chicken pox or shingles so these would need to be ruled out. Rashes due to excess exposure from the sun can also be painful as well. Using anti-inflammatory pain medication would be helpful to reduce your discomfort Example: Naproxen or ibuprofen or Cataflam. A cold compress to the area may also provide some relief as well.

Hope I have answered your question.
