What Causes Painful Urination And Abdominal Pain?

My daughter is 15. She just woke up feeling like she had to urinate really bad, to the point that it was painful. She urinated a moderate amount, but is still having severe generalize lower abdominal pain, tender to touch. She says she doesn't feel like she still needs to urinate. Any ideas?

Hello and thank you for asking Healthcaremagic.

I am Dr.Endri Katro and I will be answering at your questions.
The symptoms that you describe (pain while urinating, urinating in small portions, pain in the lower abdominal part) correlate with an urinary tract infection. Probably a cystitis (infection of the bladder)

There is nothing to be worried here. If I was the caring doctor of your daughter I would do an urine test to confirm the diagnosis and also an ultrasound of her urinary tract just to be sure there are no stones in her urinary tract.

Meanwhile she needs to follow these advice to help her body heal faster
-have plenty of water
-fresh fruits and vegetables
-don't hold the urine
-chamomile tea or rose tea,1 or 2 cups each day
-ibuprofen for the pain or the burning sensation

Wish good health at your daughter.

If you have any other question, don't hesitate to contact me.
