What Causes Painless Cysts In Front Of/behind Ear Lobes?

I have small painless cysts in front of and behind my ear lobes. There is also one in the centre of my chest, between the breasts. They are smelly (cheesy), have been there for years and are embarrassing. What is the cause and how can they be treated? Many thanks.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

These look too be classical sebaceous cyst which are not growing as the ducts or opened or you pop the material out. This material is concentrated sebum hence cheesy and has classical smell. You can keep a watch for enlargement, infection, pain, redness or so. Still best is to consult a general surgeon and get all such cysts operated. These are small hence, you will have very small scars. If not infected then the removal of the whole cysts with skin having duct can give you permanent relief. Thus, the best way is to go for is surgery.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
