What Causes Painless Swelling In The Glands On The Side Of Face?

my husband is 77 years old and today his glands on the right side are very swollen, it looks like mumps. He has no fever or pain. Could it be something besides mumps? We live with our grandsons, ages 4 and 6 and we are worried about exposing them, or having already exposed them.

Hi,
Thanks for your question.
I do understand your pain and discomfort.
As per your history is concerned do:-
1)CBC with Dc count
2)Chest X-ray to ruled out pathology of lungs
3)Do fasting blood sugar and TSH
4)Check oral cavity as well as salivary gland by dental doctor to ruled out any hidden abscess or tissue growth present or not.
Take medications as per test reports.Nothing to be worried about any serious issues.
I hope I was able to address your query. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to write to me.
Wishing you all the best.
Thanks
