What Causes Paresthesia Post A Hearing Loss Surgery?

Tingling around right side of face near the ear area.....more irritation than pain. 3 weeks off and on. Have had surgery on both ears for partial hearing loss in the past. Ringing that is normal has been a bit exagerrated. Is this necessarily related to ear?
