What Causes Passage Of Stringy Strands In Bowel Movements?

Earlier today, I found that a long, perhaps 3-inch strand of stool would not come all the way out of my rectum. I tried to wipe it away, but I ended up having to actually pull it out... It broke, and I had a little left that I had to force out. I felt like there was still more, but I couldn t pass it and I left. I later returned, with a mix of diarrhea and more of this stringy substance. I decided to clean up a long-ish piece, because I was afraid it could be worms. Now I see that it can t be an organism, but it is like a long stretchy piece of red, translucent fat. These are strands that are a couple inches long. What could this be? Thank you for you help.
