What Causes Pea Sized Lump In Belly Button Which Oozes Clear Fluid?

Hello! I m a 24 year old female with a pea size lump in my belly button that is slowly leaking a clear fluid. The lump is a little sore and red but the fluid has no color or smell. I cleaned it with a q-tip and peroxide yesterday when I first noticed it and again today but it didn t seem to help it any. Should I see a physician or just wait to see if it goes away?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi! Good evening. I am Dr Shareef answering your query. It seems to be a infected granuloma in the belly button which is not very uncommon. I would advise you to clean it regularly with alcohol swab along with an anti inflammatory drug.If it persists after a week to ten days, I would advise you to consult a general surgeon in your area for a proper diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.

Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. I wish you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
