I have a red lump about the size of a pea in my mouth. On the side of my mouth,It isnt rock hard but also isnt really soft.I have some wisdom teeth coming through and ive had a mouth ulcer. But ive just noticed this today.Im abit worried it will pop?I did find myself chewing the sides of my mouth when the teeth were hurting. So noy sure if ive caused this?
There can be two possibilities for the pea sized lump inside mouth .
First there can be a condition known as pericoronitis due to wisdom tooth . When wisdom tooth is impacted there form a pocket which become space for food debris and bacteria . They cause infection and there is swelling of mucosa .
Secondly there can be a mucocele , which occur due to blockage of duct of salivary gland due to any foreign substance and stone aso known as Sialolithiasis .
I would suggest you to consult oral surgeon for proper diagnosis .
In case of pericoronitis doctor may surgically remove the flap under local anesthesia and clean the space with betaine solution.
In case of mucocele doctor may remove salivary gland or perform marsupilization.
For now maintain proper oral hygiene and do warm saline rinses several times a day .
