What Causes Peeling Of Skin On Labia Minora With Swelling?

I noticed in the shower that I have peeling around my labia minora I had sex recently and I was getting dry could that be a reason for the peeling? I m on birth control and I also had swelling but that went away but at the very end of my vagina it s still irritated...no abnormal discharge just peeling...what could this be?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello,

I can understand your concern for the peeling of skin on labia minora with swelling.

It is quite normal and natural to find such kind of appearance after vigorous or forceful intercourse. During the friction of the sexual act females can have swelling and bruising of the skin.

The skin can also peel off due to friction and formation of dead skin. As there is no discharge or related thing so there is nothing to be worried about anything.

Even if you are worried then can apply a plane antibiotic cream such as Mupirocin or fucidin or gentamycin over the affected area.

Avoid intercourse for few days to get proper healing.

All the best.
