What Causes Penis Swelling And Pain With Frequent Urination?
Husband had hernia surgery on Tuesday they had to catheterize him after they sent him home and has had bad pain in his penis ever since and urinates constantly. Penis is majority swollen. Dr. put him on antibiotic and AZO yesterday. He hasn t been able to rest at. Seems to be a little better today and some swelling is going down was wondering if he needs to be taken to ER
There may be some short of injury to the penis during act of catheterization. Due to this trauma to penis, he might be having pain, swelling & urge to urinate frequently. Definitely, presence of infection may be there at the local site of trauma leading to urine infection.
Hence, he has been given rightly a course of antibiotic as well as AZO for burning micturition. As, he is getting some relief in his symptoms, I do not think, that he needs to be taken to ER. However, in this case, along with antibiotic, some OTC anti-inflammatory / analgesics may be also given to take care of swelling and pain, if it has not been given already.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
