What Causes Period Like Cramps After Getting A Depo Shot?
I had a baby 01-02-14 and six weeks after I got the birth control shot. It was my first and last shot. To this day I still have not gotten a period. I have never breastfed my son so I know its not linked to that. Ive taken several pregnancy tests just to be sure and all have came out negative. The past couple weeks I have been having period like cramps but there is only very light pink blood when I wipe. The pain is not on one side only so ive ruled out the possibilty of an ectopic pregnancy. I need to know if this is something I should get checked out or if this is normal after getting the depo shot. Please help!
Depo injection is used for contraceptive purpose works for 3 months. So, in first 3 months after injection there is no risk of getting pregnant. If you have crossed 3 months now, then it takes 2 to 4 weeks for return of regular cycles.
After the months, you need to use some other method of contraception like Condoms. Your blood stained discharge and lower abdominal pain can be a sign before onset of menses.
To rule out any doubt about ectopic pregnancy, USG will be of help. As such with negative urine pregnancy test, a chance of ectopic pregnancy is almost nil.
