What Causes Period Like Cramps And Diarrhea After Going To Ocean Waters?

So every time that I m about to go to the beach lately I get stomach cramps. Almost like period cramps but I m not sure. Then what happens is I walk down to the beach and end up having to turn around because it just hurts terribly. Then I get home and have dierrhea everytime! It s like the ocean triggers it or something. It s ruining the time I have with my family. I recently just stopped my period but they were going on in my cycle as well. This has probably happened 4 or 5 times. T

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is due to vasospasm associated with exposure to water.
As a first line management you can take analgesics like Mefenemic acid for pain relief. If symptoms persist it will be better to consult a gynecologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
