What Causes Peripheral Neuropathy While Suffering From Diabetes?

I have the symptoms of neuropathy in the balls of my feet that is spreading to my toes I have typeII diabetes which is under control with oral medication. I also have very high arches. My endocrinologist does not think the condition is diabetes related but has no suggestions
