Hi, I have had a problem with coughing up clear foamy phlem for over a year, I have seen the doctor a few times and also seen an ENT consultant. So far I have been given an allergy test and put on antihistamines and A beclonase nasal spray. Neither is having any affect. I also have almost constant mucus running from my nasal passage down the back of my throat that is causing me to gag a lot and be sick. Another thing I occasionally get is soft white chunks that I also cough up. This whole this is causing me to put on weight as I am eating to mask the taste in my mouth and to clear my throat. Do you have any ideas? Thanks
it is commonly caused due to deviated nasal septum. You need to be evaluated by a ENT expert.
Treatment involves surgical correction of the abnormality.
Persistent cough none the less needs evaluation to rule out other causes. A Chesy XRay and sputum culture along with blood counts should be helpful. If you complain of breathlessness to any degree a spirometry needs to be considered.
Take Care.
