What Causes Persistent Headache After Rope Jumping?

Hi. I'm and 18 year old male with a generally healthy diet and I almost never drink soda, so I'm usually adequately hydrated. A few days ago, I was jumping rope for exercise and got a really bad headache on the left side of my head. This headache has persisted for the last three days, even after I've taken otc headache medicine and slept. Any ideas on how to get rid of it and prevent it in the future?

Hi young man,
Thanks for writing to healthcaremagic.

I red your question, it is very well narrated. Tough you are hydrated well according to you, but it is not the case.During exercise of jumping possibility of dehydration and loss of sodium through sweating which can cause headache you are suffering form.It is not going to relieve with medicine and sleep. Ypou need to take oral rehydration solution(ORS-Electral) . One pack in one liter of water and drink it rather than normal water. You will be recovered in a day.

In future ,whenever you are going to do vigorous exercises or any activity which cause excessive sweat, keep one pack of ORS with you to prevent such headache.

Hope I have answered your query,
Regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.
