What Causes Persistent Hiccups While On Losartan, Lisinopril And Metoprolol?
My husband takes lisinopril and metoprolol. He has been on them for quite some time. 4 days ago he started losartan. He developed hiccups yesterday and it has persisted all day today. Could it be from the losartan as that is the only new medication he is on?
Lisinopril and Losartan are drugs to lower high blood pressure. They can't be taken together. If yes, consult with his doctor to stop taking Lisinopril and take losartan only. In rare cases, Losartan use is associated with hiccups. However, I want to make sure he is not having dry cough instead of hiccups.
If hiccups then other causes could be considered too including acid reflux. Anyway, I advise to report this side effect to his caring doctor, who should change to alternative medication to lower his blood pressure.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Albana Sejdini
