What Causes Persistent Left-sided Headache Radiating From The Nape Of The Neck?

I have had a headache located in the lower, left, back of my head for more than 3 months. The pain originally would start when i would have my head titled down for even a very short time. For the past 3 days the pain has been constant and has not responded to any pain relievers. Nassau has also entered the picture and i can not find a comfortable position to ease the pain. My vision does not seem to be involved but i have been having trouble finding words for several months now. It is like i know the word i want and i have to visually pull the word from the back of my brain to the front.

Neurologist 's  Response
Hello,

A neurological examination should be done by a neurologist or headache specialist focusing on speech/language and cognitive function.

But as well, the history of a chronic headache which seems to have transformed by way of becoming now NON-positionally dependent as well as refractory to common analgesics.

My concern is that there may be a small leak into the extradural space causing a LOW-PRESSURE CSF a headache vs. MEDICATION OVERUSE HEADACHES due to overuse of analgesics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dariush Saghafi, Neurologist
