What Causes Persistent Pain Below The Rib Cage On The Left Side?
My husband is 87 and about 4 days ago noticed a pain in his left side, just below the rib cage, s persistent dull ache. There is no bruise or other symptom and no event he can link it to, though he thought it might have been from sleeping on a balled up towel. I fear pancreatic cancer. We have an appointment Feb 26 with his primary care doctor. Should we seek more immediate examination?

It could be minor contusion secondary to trivial trauma or could be due to a condition called costochondritis.
You can try analgesics like Acetaminophen or Tramadol for pain relief.
If pain persists, better to consult a physician and get evaluated.
