What Causes Persistent Pain In The Abdomen After Starting Diabetic Medications?

a relative of mine is in her early 70s and has recently been put on medication for diabetes. however shortly after starting the course she has developed a very raw and painful stomach which has resulted in continuous pain, lack of mobility and loss of apetite which means she is also losing weight at an alarming rate. also, she has started developing rather large bruising on her legs without any incidents she can think of, also swelling of the legs ankles and feet has occured. this again has made it very painful and difficult for her to walk. she has another appointment at the doctors tomorrow morning and they have also taken her off the original medication. is there anything you can tell me at this moment in time into what you think may be happening? she is very concerned but will not give me any more information than what i have told you in this query. thankyou for your time and help.

Diabetologist 's  Response
I feel you relative has developed drug induced gastritis due to medications prescribed. There is nothing to worry as these symptoms are common and can be treated very easily. The problems in her feet may be because of stopping of medicines and gradually her sugars would have gone up. Nothing to worry ask your relative to discuss in detail with the doctor regarding side effects of all medicines and i am sure she will be fine
