I have a rash that I thought was a heat rash, but it continues to persist. Even with me keeping it clean and keeping after it, it smells bad and seems to be oily. It is in the skin fold of my groin. (I have some extra skin, as I had a gastric by-pass, but this fold is not extremely large.)
I understand your concern for persistent rash in groin skin fold. There can be multiple possibilities of the persistent rash in groin skin fold but most commonly it is seen after a fungal infection.
Iti is due to moist area of the thigh fold which causes more of fungal infection of the affected area. In my patients I suggest them to apply clotrimazole cream or "Sertaconazole" or "Amorolfine ". In case f the infection is high then I suggest my patients to take anti-fungal tablets according to medical advice.
Don't try to scratch or rub the area as can lead to further aggravation of the problem. For itching I prefer to give an antihistamine such as cetrizine or levocetrizine or loratadine for two times a day for few days. I also suggest wearing cotton clothes and cotton undergarments to be changed two times a day. Do not wear any synthetic or tight garments.
All the best.
