What Causes Persistent Sore Throat?

I have had a sore throat twice in 1 month. First time it cleared up for two weeks and then came back, its not consistently sore however. The roof of my mouth is a yellow color (not a layer of film, the actual palate is yellow) and has all these red spider like veins showing. Throat is also very red and swollen in the back (I have no tonsils). I ve had mono twice and am getting concerned. The only other symptom I have with the sore, gross throat is extreme fatigue.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you are suffering recurring throat infection that seems most probably from Bacterial throat infection also known as Strep throat and the symptoms of roof of my mouth is a yellow colour, throat pain that is Pharyngitis along with red throat and veins appearing prominent seems to be due to it..

For confirmation consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Throat swab culture can help in diagnosis..

You can be advised a course of antibiotics like Augmentin, anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen, doing warm saline gargles, steam inhalation and using a humidifier in your room can help..
You can also suck throat lozenges, chew Vitamin C pellet and avoid spicy and chilled foods..
Gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
