What Causes Persistent Throat Infection?
3 weeks ago i finished a 10 day antibiotics for tonsilitis now I have an extremely sore throat which started 7 days ago, have been taking Ibuprofen with codeine. At night i am finding it difficult to breath and I am not swallowing my saliva as I am waking up in a pool of drool. I went to the Dr 2 days ago but she said all I had was a red throat...Could this be Strep throat ?

The throat infection can be because of the bacterial infection like streptococcal infection. It can be a peritonsillar abscess also. The repeated throat infection can be because of your reduced immunity. Get your blood sugar level checked once. Consult a good ENT surgeon and get it evaluated. Mean while you can take a course of antibiotics like azithromycin(if you are not allergic). Do saline gargling. Take care
